Speak Of The Devil ist zwar eine Ozzy Osbourne-Platte, tatsächlich sind aber nur Songs aus seiner Zeit bei Black Sabbath zu hören. Dies liegt wohl im tragischen Tod von Ausnahmetalent Randy Rhoads, dem Gitarrist von Ozzy Osbourne, begründet. Dieser war nur wenige Monate zuvor bei einem Flugzeugunglück ums Leben gekommen. Statt dem fast fertigen Live-Album mit Rhoads an der Gitarre veröffentlichte Ozzy Osbourne daher mit Speak Of The Devil zunächst eine Platte mit Black Sabbath-Klassikern wie War Pigs, Paranoid und Symptom Of The Universe.
